3. A two‑reactor continuous CSTR (Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor) is a reaction system composed of two continuously stirred tank reactors connected in series, commonly used in chemical reaction processes in fields such as chemical engineering. It is widely applied in petrochemicals, fine chemicals, and other related industries. For example, in the synthesis of ethyl acetate, a two‑reactor continuous CSTR can be employed: acetic acid and ethanol undergo an initial reaction in the first reactor under sulfuric acid catalysis, followed by a subsequent step in the second reactor to further increase the conversion rate. In polymerization reactions, it can also be used to produce high‑molecular‑weight materials such as polyvinyl chloride, where different reaction conditions in the two reactors are utilized to control the molecular weight and structure of the polymer.
