Synthetic Ammonia Fixed-Bed Reactor
Synthetic Ammonia Fixed-Bed Reactor
The fixed-bed reactor for ammonia synthesis is an industrial device used to produce ammonia, in which the catalyst is arranged in a fixed bed. This process is based on the Haber–Bosch process, a chemical reaction that converts nitrogen (N₂) and hydrogen (H₂) into ammonia (NH₃) under high temperature, high pressure, and in the presence of a catalyst. Fixed-bed reactors are widely employed in industrial ammonia production due to their simple structure and stable operation. However, these reactors have certain drawbacks, including significant pressure drop across the catalyst bed and the gradual decline in catalyst activity, which necessitates periodic replacement.
